You will teach a diverse student body at the upper secondary level II (upper secondary school) in various educational programmes and combine the teaching of vocational skills with the opportunity to acquire general school qualifications.
What’s involved
Vocational colleges include vocational preparation programmes (e.g. training preparation, vocational college, technical college), dual vocational training (company and vocational college), and full-time school-based training (e.g. assistant professions) as well as vocational colleges as further education for adults. The educational programmes teach vocational skills and pave the way to a university entrance qualification.
As a teacher, you’ll cater to different target groups in vocational and cross-occupational subject areas, always guided towards professional practice. You will enable your students to independently acquire and apply knowledge as a basis for lifelong professional learning in the working world. As part of this, you will cooperate with companies, trade unions, and chambers of commerce in the region.

Structure of the Vocational School I degree programme
In the Vocational School I teacher education programme at the University of Cologne, you can combine the vocational subject of economics with a teaching subject in the Bachelor’s degree and, building on this, in the Master’s degree. You will study both subjects in equal proportions. The scope of the educational sciences is significantly smaller than that of the subjects.
Applications are only possible for the winter semester.

Hinweis Religion
Um sich nach dem Lehramtsstudium für den Vorbereitungsdienst in Evangelischer oder Katholischer Religionslehre bewerben zu können, müssen Sie zwingend der jeweiligen Konfession angehören und bei den zuständigen Stellen eine kirchliche Unterrichtserlaubnis beantragen.
Evangelische Religionslehre: Sie müssen vor dem Vorbereitungsdienst die Vokation (Vocatio) beantragen. Dazu müssen Sie evangelisch sein oder einer evangelischen Freikirche angehören.
Katholische Religionslehre: Sie müssen vor dem Vorbereitungsdienst die missio canonica (Missio) beantragen. Dazu müssen Sie katholisch sein und während des Studiums ein Mentorat absolviert haben.
Hinweis Sport
Für das Fach Sport müssen Sie während des gesamten Studiums sowohl an der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln (DSHS) als auch der Universität zu Köln eingeschrieben bleiben.
Auch dann, wenn Sie alle Leistungen an einer von beiden Hochschule bereits abgeschlossen haben. Nur so kann die Uni Ihnen die Abschlussdokumente ausstellen.

| Zusätzlich zu den im Lehramtsstudium obligatorischen Praxisphasen ist im Studiengang Wirtschaftspädagogik / Lehramt an Berufskollegs bis zum Antritt des Vorbereitungsdiensts eine einjährige fachpraktische Tätigkeit vorgeschrieben, die durch den Erlass zur fachpraktischen Tätigkeit vom 14. April 2013 geregelt wird. Ansprechpartner für die Beratung zu dieser Tätigkeit ist das Landesamt für Qualitätssicherung und Informationstechnologie der Lehrerausbildung (LAQUILA). |
